The “Wireless Prague”
will result in the creation of a telecommunications network built by the City of Prague in selected metropolitan districts which have become project partners (approx. 1/3 of the City area). Internet connection will be brought via a high-speed backbone link (mainly fibre optic) to 171 wireless network distribution points that will be located on buildings owned by the City. Signal will be made available to another 409 hotspots. There will be 580 access points altogether. The network has been deployed using the wireless WiFi Mesh technology. This network is designed to cover outdoor public areas and focuses on developing mobile services in selected areas in the City of Prague (WiFi zones).
